This is my most recent series in abstraction and fluidity. The ideas for this series came about as I was looking at some Pantone color swatches and thought, “it would be so cool if these color swatches were miniature paintings.” I took the idea a bit further with my love for Crayola crayon names. This artwork is created around the title, meaning the title guides me with a direction for a color palette. Once a palette is chosen, it is all up to fate to how the paint reacts with other media. Yupo is an unforgiving and non-absorbent surface, but works well for layers that are applied thinly and allowed to dry. This meditative process is all about the subtle changes that transform over the surface.
These works are 11” x 14”, mixed media on Yupo paper.
