Yolanda’s work explores the relationship between color and texture and how they move about within a two dimensional space. The process of applying the same paints and pencils to paper time after time, with different outcomes is symbolic of her everyday adventures. This passion for color and texture serve as inspiration to express the connection between realistic memories of her travels; specifically patterns in nature, maps, and lines in the landscapes. These memories are brought forth with abstract tendencies. Working intuitively, she layers watercolor, acrylic, pencils, and oil paint. It is through mixed media that Yoli can fully explore these infinite shades and textural varietals.
